Overview

Fileaze is a powerful and flexible automation tool that allows you to create jobs to automate complex and repetitive file and network level tasks very easily.

Fileaze_XP.jpgThink about the file level operations you usually perform on your PC: most of them are sequences of commands in the form of “find one or more files, do something with them” you keep on repeating endlessly. Backing up files to an external hard disk, downloading photos from your memory card, even selectively publishing files you have changed onto the web. Wouldn’t it be nice if those tasks could be defined once and for all and simply be run by clicking a button or even left in the hands of a scheduler for automated background execution?

Fileaze aims at just that: automate and speed up the work you usually do on your filesystem, with the added bonus of creating new kinds of workflows you normally couldn’t afford to do: what about downloading a webpage every day, searching it for a text pattern or an URL and using that as a source for another action, maybe downloading a daily wallpaper?

A closer look at jobs

In Fileaze lingo, jobs are sequences of operations that start from the selection/downloading of files (called “sources” in Fileaze) followed by an arbitrary number of actions performed on the selected files.

Sources can reside on local and networked drives or be network resources such as e-mail mailboxes, FTP servers and HTTP (Web) pages. Sources can be filtered by the name, size, attributes and dates of files utilizing the built-in Regular Expressions engine for text matches.
actions.jpgFileaze is able to perform single or multiple actions on selected sources:

  • Filesystem actions like copy, move, delete, rename, set file attributes and file date
  • Zip and unzip files and folders
  • Encrypt and decrypt files
  • Issue commands passing Fileaze’s sources as input parameters
  • Text replacements with full support for Regular Expressions
  • Send files as e-mail attachments
  • Upload files and folders to FTP servers

Operations that might take hours to complete when performed by hand can easily be automated and repeated as many times as needed with a touch of a button by simply combining multiple source selections and a sequence of actions.

Every job can be scheduled for background execution. This way you don’t have to remember about periodic operations: Fileaze will take care of them for you.

Why Fileaze?

Put it simple, for a number of reasons. We think you should consider Fileaze because:

  1. Your time is valuable
Time is one of the most valuable resources in life. Anything that can make you save time is worth a try.
  2. Fileaze is easy to use
You don’t need hours of training to start automating your tasks with Fileaze. We designed the application to be as easy and straightforward as possible to make you grasp its power in the shortest time. The extensive context-sensitive help is there to give you a helping hand when in doubt.
  3. Fileaze is reliable
Operations performed manually are error-prone. No matter how careful you are, everybody happens to be tired or distracted at times. Making errors at filesystem level can cause serious data loss so it’s always better to rely on automated operations where possible.
  4. Fileaze is cheap
Look at the price, enough said.
  5. Fileaze is fun
Even though it’s a workhorse, Fileaze becomes lots of fun as you discover new cool things you can do with it (and that you wouldn’t do otherwise!).
  6. We use it extensively!
At Resolware Fileaze is one of the most useful utility we have. We use it to backup stuff, to publish things on the web, to collaborate online, to encrypt our most precious data and to automate complicated operations using external command line tools. Today we are the first satisfied Fileaze users and wouldn’t do without it on our PCs.
